1.0) The R-Zone Headgear ------------------------
The R-Zone Headgear made it's appearance in 1995. Released by Tiger Electronics (the well-known makers of a multitude of handhelds).
This "weird" looking piece of hardware is pretty unique for it's kind. This "Virtual-Reality" (yeah, right !) straps on your head, it has an
adjustable eye-piece made of polycarbonate (shatter-proof) in which the screen gameplay is displayed.
The Headgear is composed of a cartridge slot were you put your game cartridge that you want to play, a speaker (adjustable volume),
the display screen and the headband. The multi-button controller is attached to the head piece and regrettably, it cannot be detached.
As for the controller, it has a 4/8 directional pad, 4 "action" buttons and 6 function buttons: On, Off, Start, Select, Sound and Pause.
And it has a cartridge storage for carrying another of your favorite game.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
1.5) The R-Zone Super Screen ----------------------------
The R-Zone Super Screen was released in 1996. This system is another "weird" one, looks like a..."viewer" with it's magnifying screen.
The screen itself is retractable so you can adjust the position of the screen as you like it or depending of the light source.
It has a special feature that the two others system doesn't have overlays that you can attach on any cart to add color in the background.
You can play with these overlays or not. The cartridge port is placed at the bottom of the system, as well as the focus button for the screen.
I don't how many overlays exist for the Super Screen, I only have one that goes well with fighting games.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
2.0) The R-Zone XPG -------------------
The R-Zone XPG was released in 1997. The abbreviation XPG stands for:
"X-treme Pocket Game". I personally don't have this portable console so I'll try my best to describe it as I can.
This portable game system is kind of like a TV Boy with a flipping (LED or Mirror ?) screen. The cartridge is front-inserted and has
built-in sound. Basically the same hardware as the Super Screen and the Headgear but was meant to play everywhere (except underwater
that is).
If someone has one and want to make a better description and/or wants to make a review, I would greatly appreciate it.

I think that you will laugh at some parts of the instructions that comes with the R-Zone Headgear. About 60% of the text wasn't
necessary to be told to people since it's to damn logical...(or stupid). But some of you may find a R-Zone without the manual and
here's the chance to read it.
Instructions of the R-Zone Headgear:
------------------------------------
CAUTION/DEFECT & DAMAGE
CAUTION:
In case of difficulty in operation:
- Be sure to use new Alkaline batteries.
- Turn intensity control to the maximum.
- Remove the cartridge, clean the connector with a cotton swab and
re-insert into the head gear, and turn the unit back on.
Never play when walking, driving or in any situation when your attention is on the game and not on your surroundings.
You have purchased a state of the art optical instrument. Treat it gently for long playing hours. Treat your Visor with special care.
Do not scratch it or use abrasive cleaning materials such as paper. If you need to clean oily finger marks, use soapy water or window
cleaning solvent.
Your lens is made from polycarbonate which is shatter resistant material. The lens may dislodge itself from the hinges when you drop
your R-Zone.
TO STORE YOUR R-ZONE, TURN OFF THE UNIT AND FOLD THE LENS TO THE FOLDED POSITION FOR PROTECTION.
Avoid playing in sunny areas as you may have insufficient contrast/intensity. The images are created about 8-10 feet ahead of you.
Position yourself in front of a wall and look at the wall. This will help you to focus correctly. After you do this a few times you should
be comfortable focusing on the images correctly.
NOW YOU ARE READY TO ENTER THE R-ZONE! USE THE CONTROL GUIDE IN THE ACCOMPANYING MANUAL TO LEARN HOW TO
OPERATE EACH CONTROL BUTTON.
BE SURE TO TURN OFF YOUR GAME UNIT BEFORE REMOVING THE GAME CARTRIDGE.
1.INSERTING THE CARTRIDGE
Removing the temporary insert. Insert the actual game cartridge into the slot of your head gear. Be sure that the game cartridge
is pushed all the way in. To replace a game cartridge, turn the unit off and pull out the cartridge and replace with a new one.
2. SETTING UP YOUR R-ZONE
Adjust the head gear so it is comfortable on your head by tightening the band buckle. Position the headband just above your right
eyebrow. Pull the game visor down.
3. STARTING YOUR GAME
Turn on the game by pressing the ON button on your hand control. Adjust the game visor by slightly turning it inward until the game
image is seen. If your game image is not clear or hard to see, adjust the intensity using the knob indicated below until the red
character images are seen clearly on the transparent background by turning the button left or right. NOW YOU CAN START PLAYING
YOUR R-ZONE GAME!
We have provided you with an extra cartridge storage space in your R-ZONE hand control. Use this extra space to store another
R-Zone game cartridge or use it to store your temporary insert.
